Introducing Smart Icon Cover: scan your Trello board instead of reading it

Open a busy Trello board and try to find one card. You read. Title after title, list after list, until you spot it. Now think of your phone’s home screen: you don’t read app names, you find the icon. That’s the idea behind Smart Icon Cover, the first Power-Up from Smarty Updates.

What it does

Smart Icon Cover draws a small icon from each card’s title and sets it as the card’s cover. “Budget approval” gets a money bag and a checklist. “Record demo video” gets a camera. “Team offsite retreat” gets a group of people under the trees. After a few days with a board, you stop reading titles to find the card you want.

Small on purpose

A cover that’s too big makes every list longer and pushes cards off the screen. So each icon sits in a short strip at the top of the card, with a transparent background that looks right in light and dark themes. The icons share one clean style, so a board looks tidy rather than busy.

Three ways to use it

  1. Card by card. Open a card and click Generate Icon Cover. About 15 seconds later the card has its icon. Don’t like it? Regenerate.
  2. A whole board at once. Turn on Auto-Gen Board Covers and a 1-time batch covers the cards already there. You see the first 12 icons before they go on, and you can undo the batch for 24 hours.
  3. Hands-off. With Auto-Gen on, each new card gets its icon about a minute after you finish its title.

Your cards stay yours

Smart Icon Cover adds an image and sets it as the cover. That’s all. It never deletes cards, never changes their text, and never replaces a cover you chose without asking first.

Try it

Smart Icon Cover is free to start, with cover credits to try it on your own boards and a free list run that covers a whole list in one go. See how it works and pricing.
